Dr. Robert Bellair

Robert Bellair graduated with his PhD in Materials Science & Engineering in November of 2009. He received his M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from Wayne State University in October of 2006 and his B.S. in Chemical Engineering in May 2004.

Roberts research interest is in characterization of morphology and interactions in supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) processed polymer-clay nanocomposites. Using a wide variety of characterization tools (Rheology, MOCON permeability, Tensile Testing, X-Ray Diffraction, Electron Microscopy, FTIR, TGA, DSC) he has helped to develop the scCO2 process as well as a process for producing resorbable polymer-clay nanocomposite foams for use as bone graft substitutes (patent application in progress)
